I will be discussing The Greek Boxer on November 7 at the Consulate General of Greece in New York City as part of the 2026 Greek Writers Guild of America Book Fair. Nikos Alexiou, professor of Sociology at Queens College, founder of the Hellenic American Project (HAP), and president of the Greek Writers Guild of America, will host. The interview will start at noon, and admission is free. The consulate’s address is: 69 E 79th St, New York, NY 10075. I look forward to discussing the historical events in which the book is set.
The Great Colorado Coal Strike of 1913-14 was a devastating, horrible, bloody clash in which Greek American miners were the vanguard. They fought the wealthiest family of the day for dignity and the rights of all workers, immigrants, and native-born. The strike by 20,000 miners and their families was the most violent social upheaval since the American Civil War and the bloodiest confrontation in American labor history. I hope to see you there.
